The nurses, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and support staff of the Elderwood Senior Care Facility are staging a informational picket on Thursday to fight for a fair contract!

Their contracts expired last year, but management cited the Covid-19 pandemic as a reason why their new contract would only last for 18 months, whereas their previous contract lasted 5 years.

The caregivers are fighting now for the same thing they've been fighting for over 2 years - better wages, safe staffing, and the respect they deserve as workers tasked with caring for those most in need.

Union employees have faced years of stagnant wages while administration has subjected them to dangerous conditions and staffing levels, while bringing in 3rd party "Agency" contractors at twice the pay of the union workers performing the same job. This has been a coordinated effort to demoralize union members and force turnover to Agency scabs.
