Help Protect 900 Acres of Critical Pinelands Habitat
Join us in standing up for the preservation of over 900 acres of environmentally sensitive headwaters forest in the Black Run Preserve. This land, located in the watershed of the southwest branch of the Rancocas Creek, is critical for maintaining water quality, supporting biodiversity, and protecting the pristine beauty of New Jersey's Pine Barrens. The southwest branch provides drinking water to 13% of Philadelphia, making its protection vital for both our environment and public health.
This area is currently at risk of development, but rezoning it as a “Pinelands Forest Area” would nearly double the size of the Black Run Preserve, ensuring its protection for future generations. Unfortunately, the Pinelands Commission has not yet acted. Public pressure is essential to urge them to prioritize this rezoning.
The upcoming Pinelands Commission hearing is a pivotal moment to voice our support. Together, we can safeguard this vital ecosystem.
