Start: Wednesday, April 22, 2020• 3:00 PM
Poetry for the People at UC Berkeley, founded by the late artist/activist June Jordan, continues to push for social justice nearly 30 years later. Join current director Aya de Leon for a literature reading with a group of poets of color the program has been commissioning to write about the climate emergency, including international artist Shailja Patel, who will be sharing a world premiere of a new spoken word piece about climate. This event is co-sponsored by the Daily Dose: Feminist Voices for the Green New Deal. Aya de Leon is the author of Side Chick Nation, the first novel published about Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
