Pollution and Our Harbours

June 8th is World Ocean Day so we’ve planned a focus on how we are polluting our seas. What are we doing to the wildlife in our harbours? Research from the University of Portsmouth shows us the alarming consequences of dumping sewage and the effects of endocrine disrupters, plastics, nanoparticles and pharmaceuticals.

How can we do better?

Prof Alex Ford from the University of Portsmouth will tell us more about the projects he is involved with,

Sarah Shreeve of Stop the Sewage Southsea is also working with different groups who want to clean up our seas.

Beth Hawdon who has an MSc in environmental management and worked on the effects of pharmaceuticals on invertebrates and a project tracking persistent pharmas from outfalls down river to the sea.
