March Time:
9am-11am on Saturday, January 21st, 2017

What to Carry:
Banners and signs are welcome:  but, please, no incendiary signage.  Use signs and banners to indicate what you are for (rather than against): show what you wish to see in public discourse, politics, and policy over the next four years.

Who is Welcome:
While led by women, all are welcome to attend. This is an inclusive march for all genders, races, creeds, and we encourage people of all ages.  We are marching across the Walkway because it is Poughkeepsie’s most democratic and inclusive space.  Ours is a peaceful, nonpartisan march.

Purpose:
The Poughkeepsie Women’s March Across the Hudson provides a platform for supporters of equality to rally and march in the promotion of civil rights for all— regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, religion or creed.

While each person may have their own reasons for marching, the mission is to bring people together to take a stand on issues that deeply impact all of us:
  • We march to reaffirm the core values of freedom and democracy for all at a time when many fear that their voices will be lost, especially as related to women’s rights, immigrant rights, worker rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights, environmental rights, rights for all races, and religious freedom.
  • We march in solidarity with communities most affected by hate, intolerance and acts of violence.
  • We march to send a message to our leaders that we stand for human  dignity, equal rights and freedom from discrimination—and that they must too.
Donations:
We are no longer accepting donations online, but please consider donating on the day of the event to help cover the significant cost of permits and insurance. Our march is a grass-roots endeavor and we need your help! Any excess funds will be donated to Family Services in Poughkeepsie.
