The Prepare for Action workshop will cover what you need to know when attending XR actions to keep yourself and others safe. This workshop will include a 30-minute action briefing for the Upgrade Democracy mass occupation - Fri 30 Aug –Sun 1 Sept 2024.

Disruptive mass law-breaking and law-bending action is fundamentally what defines XR. It is what sets us apart from other green N.G.O.s, campaign groups and political parties who may share many of our aims and values. Most people at XR actions don’t get arrested, but we all must know it is possible.
'Prepare for Action' training is important for your safety; the safety of other people around you on direct actions; and that of the general public. Learn about civil disobedience, theories of nonviolence, practical skills and how to use your support systems. The action briefing will be specific to Upgrade Democracy helping rebels to feel prepared for this action.
No prior knowledge is needed. Please bring a pen and paper, though you’ll get a follow-up email.
