Property Tax Assessment Reform Ordinance – Show up for the final vote!

Our Property Tax Reform Ordinance will be in front of the City Council on Tuesday the final vote. If the City Council votes yes, then we will have an opportunity to win property tax justice in 2024. If the City Council votes no, then we will have to wait until 2025 until the Ordinance is implemented.

Here is a summary of what the ordinance will do:

  • Reform 1: Extends the amount of time residents have to appeal from 14 to 30 days

  • Reform 2: Drastically improves assessment notices

  • Reform 3: Requires Board of Review to provide homeowners with reasons why their appeal was granted or denied

  • Reform 4: Requires release of all assessment data by Feb 1st, making appeals more informed by data
