Protect Trans Youth!

This week the Queensland LNP announced a ban on gender-affirming hormones and puberty blockers for under 18s, completely ignoring accepted medical science, the AusPATH best practice standards of care, and the recommendations of an independent review into the Queensland Children’s Gender Service released last year.

The move is a devastating attempt to politicise healthcare for transgender children, who are one of the most vulnerable patient cohorts in Australia, and will cause psychological and physical harm to this group. To date, Queensland's decision has been condemned by the Human Rights Commissioner, the Federal Minister for Health, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

The Trans Justice Project is organising a National Day of Action as part of a broader campaign to protest this decision. It is incredibly important that we send a clear message that trans healthcare is best left to patients, and the doctors and allied health professionals who treat us.

Join us at 10am on Saturday, 8 Feb out the front of R.G. Menzies house (liberal HQ) to send a clear message that we won't tolerate Trump style politics in our country.

  1. This is a kid friendly, non-violent protest. We are aiming to set an optimistic tone that focuses on the benefits and transformative effect of this essential healthcare on trans lives.
  2. If you are a medical professional, parent of a trans youth, or a trans youth; we would love to hear from you, either as a speaker on the day or by written statement.
  3. You can reach me at Contact@Transjusticecanberra.com

Hope to see you all there,

Alexandra
