Protest Photography Training

Start: Sunday, November 01, 2020 4:00 PM

**note this training is in-person in DC**

Interested in being on the photography team for ShutDownDC? Good, because your photos will be extremely helpful to document the events of election night and any ensuing actions we may need to take afterwards to advance justice and ensure the President is held accountable to the electorate’s wishes.

Photographing the events during this important time is critical to help ShutDownDC get the story out about what is happening in the city, particularly if President Trump attempts a coup. Using your photos, our activism will be available to the media and the world! Your pictures will help demonstrate that our election integrity must be upheld!

We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us. One thing is certain: Election night and the immediate days following will be tense as the fate of the presidency and perhaps our Democracy is decided.

Our photography training will discuss how we want to cover these events with a focus on evocative storytelling and rapid submission of photos so they may be published on social media as soon as possible. To help we are planning a Zoom call on the evening of October 28 at 8:00 p.m. and the live photography training on November 1 at a location to be determined.

In Person training

Some of you are more experienced than others and may know some of this. However, for those who want to practice before the day of the event, we will hold a training at 4 p.m. on November 1 in DC. During this training we will focus on shooting in low-light, composition, and using our apps to send photos at night.
