The Coalition for Re-envisioning Our Safety (CROS) is hosting a public forum via Zoom on Wednesday, February 16 at 7pm to discuss the creation of an unarmed safety response team in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor is joining the growing movement of communities, municipalities, and organizers who recognize the need for prioritizing and re-envisioning public safety.

Unarmed safety response teams deliver solutions to conflicts, harmful situations, and mental health crises without the threat of subject control tactics and without the threat of incarceration, offering creative solutions by identifying the right resource for the right need.

In this forum, CROS will introduce our plan for unarmed response in Ann Arbor, how unarmed response is different from co-response, and why the difference matters. We will hear from national and local experts on public health, social work, and the need for unarmed response. Finally, we will talk with the Interim City Administrator Milton Dohoney on how the city can partner with CROS to develop a care-based, life-affirming approach to unarmed response in Ann Arbor. Join us for this important conversation!
