Our society is in crisis. The state system that has dominated for more than 40 years - neoliberal capitalism - has culminated in a crises of economy and society, now hanging by only a thread.

This system of political and economic management did not emerge from nowhere. It has its roots in historic defeats of labour and social movements. It is sustained by an undemocratic political system that concentrates and centralises power, disempowering the already oppressed by individualising them and impairing their ability to resist.

But now the impact of coronavirus is showing that this political order is unable to sustain itself. The government is putting it on life support.

Could this be the death of neoliberalism? And what kind of society and democracy can we build in it's place?

On Monday 20 April, we're delighted to be hosting Adam Ramsay, Editor of OpenDemocracy UK, for an online talk and Q&A on radical democracy, the British state and the failure of ‘politics’ in a time of crisis.
