Rally #4-2/21-BUILDING BRIDGES; QUEST FOR COLLINS TOWN HALL-11:30am

Start: Tuesday, February 21, 201711:30 AM

End: Tuesday, February 21, 201712:30 PM

Congressman Collins (R-27th) is in his district 2/21-24.  In addition to chant, signs, letter delivery & marches, attendees will request a Town hall with Collins during one of these days. HOWEVER, Collins has just gone on record in a national news source that he will, unequivocally, not host a town hall because he does not want to be shouted down like other MoC's. http://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/rep-chris-collins-will-not-hold-town-halls.

SO THIS WEEK participants will build a symbolic BRIDGE from left to right in an effort to convince Rep Collins we come in peace. Erica Ravenwood, who built our Lady Liberty, is heading this effort.

Volunteers to lead chants, guide group movement & sign in attendees are needed. All peaceful/respectful attendees are welcome including those in other congressional districts.  This is an Indivisible event. This event will continue every Tuesday through the first 100 days of the new President's administration. NEXT POST RALLY MEETING TO PLAN FUTURE RALLIES - WADSWORTH LIBRARY 2/28 -12:30-2 PM

ANOTHER EVENT - ANNOUNCED by NYCLU -

SANCTUARY CITY: NYCLU worked with Worker Justice Center, Rochester Workers’ Center, Roc/ACTS, ROCitizen, and others to present a letter to Rochester City Council and Mayor Warren in support of adopting a Sanctuary City policy that made clear that law enforcement should not act as federal immigration enforcement or aid immigration enforcement in detaining or investigating a person without a judicial warrant. Last Thursday, ROC City Council said it would pass an updated sanctuary resolution and regulation, drafted at the Mayor’s request by City Law Dept, at the next Council meeting. While the updated reg doesn’t include everything NYCLU requested, it’s a huge step forward. NYCLU is now working with other orgs to move on to Monroe County and other counties and municipalities outside of Rochester.

SUPPORT NYCLU EFFORTS- Come to City Council on Tuesday, Feb 21st, 6:30 PM to stand in support of of this action! If you wish to speak in support, call or email per these instructions.
