Rally Against Union Busting and For Good Green Jobs

Join us on Saturday to stand with UAW against union busting and for well-paying green jobs! We'll gather with UAW members to picket at the headquarters of Empower Solar after they illegally fired dozens of workers after they voted to unionize.

From the union:

On December 22nd, the workers at Empower Solar voted to form their union with United Auto Workers Local 259. On December 29th, management responded by illegally furloughing or outright discharging over 20 people. During the lead up to the election, the Bosses chose to hire high priced Union Busting consultants instead of allowing the members to choose free of coercion, fear and stress. Despite the relentless efforts of management, the workers chose the Voice that comes with collective bargaining by a margin of 2-1.

Local 259 is asking for your help as we do everything in our power to protect and fight for these workers. It's absolutely outrageous and disgusting that these workers were treated like this. We need to let management know that these workers are supported and not alone. This fight is also about guaranteeing the "Just Transition" into the new economy that we keep hearing about. The future green jobs shouldn't include high priced union busters and acts of retaliation. We will rally at the EmPower corporate offices ,999 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage NY at 9 am on Saturday January 6th
