Rally at Sen. Rubio's office: Expand our democracy! Raise the wage!
Start: Monday, July 26, 2021•11:00 AM
Now is the time to ask our representatives and ourselves: Which Side Are You On? Democracy or Autocracy? The provisions of the US Constitution or the demands of the US Chamber of Commerce?
On Monday July 26th at 11am, we will rally at Sen. Marco Rubio's Miami office to demand he commit to:
- End the filibuster
- Pass all provisions of the For the People Act
- Fully restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act
- Raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr
And
it won't just be us - in over 40 states around the country, a season of
Nonviolent Moral Direct Action is underway. Every Senator, regardless
of party, will be asked to tell the nation publicly which side they're
on.
We
are witnessing attacks on people of every race, creed, income, gender,
sexuality, ability and identity. The battle to suppress the vote is a
tool of wealth distribution upward.
We
demand an end to the compromising with people's lives: No democracy can
be true to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness until workers
are paid a living wage, have education and health care and everything
else we need to survive.
Democracy
vs. autocracy is the battle of our time. We must engage and escalate
the nonviolent struggle for a Third Reconstruction.
