Rally for Housing Justice
Start: Tuesday, April 23, 2019• 6:00 PM
End: Tuesday, April 23, 2019• 9:00 PM
Join community members and residents as we demand action from our city council members to end this housing crisis! (FB Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/399666617532596/)
Meet on the steps of the Salt Lake City and County Building to rally before the meeting, share stories and connect with other community members who are struggling under the weight of the current crisis.
Then join us in raising our voices in City Council Chambers, and telling the council that they must take appropriate measures to put equity and justice back into housing. Public comment begins at 7 PM. Please come and share your housing story and demands for equity and justice back into our neighborhoods.
-----
Rally For Housing Justice acknowledges that there are already community and city efforts toward restoring justice to residents and community members. If you are aware of such efforts or are effectuating such efforts, please message me to see how efforts can be combined in order to achieve Housing Justice. In addition, there are issues that interrelate to housing, i.e. wealth inequity, transportation, zoning (Inclusionary zoning), corporate development efforts, homelessness, policing, and cost of higher education and student loan debt.
If you would like to share a brief speech (story, concept, etc.) or if you know someone who would be important to listen to, please message me. Queer, Trans, Low-Income, Black/Person of Color/Indigenous, those with varying ability, immigrant, refugee and asylee, and Femme voices will be prioritized.
-----
Support for those needing appropriate accessibility measure can be requested; chairs, ASL and Spanish interpretation can be delivered upon request, and other measures can be given with request made in advance. This is a community effort and the most will be done to give those with needed accessibility the most equitable experience.
