RALLY / MARCH / HEARING: Protect our communities from tar sands, stop the Alberta Clipper pipeline expansion!

Start: Thursday, April 03, 2014 1:30 PM

On April 3rd, we're standing up to protect the Great Lakes region by saying no to the proposed Alberta Clipper tar sands pipeline expansion. Come with your friends, come with your colors and signs, come dressed as your favorite critter or ecosystem that motivates you to act -- or just come as you are. We need all hands on deck to send an overwhelming message: our lakes, rivers, and climate are too valuable to sacrifice in the name of corporate profits, and we're willing to stand up and be heard.

After meeting up for a rally, we'll march together to the final public hearing on this tar sands expansion project at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. Anyone from Minnesota or neighboring states can sign up to testify, and we encourage you to do so! If you don't want to testify, help us pack the audience. Our numbers are powerful.

Canadian pipeline company Enbridge is proposing to expand the Alberta Clipper tar sands pipeline across northern Minnesota and Wisconsin to 800,000 barrels per day, enough to rival Keystone XL. Approving this expansion would open the door to oil shipping on Lake Superior and increase the flow of tar sands throughout Enbridge's pipeline network across the entire Great Lakes region.

The movement against tar sands -- one of the dirtiest sources of fuel in the world -- has reached a fever pitch in the fight against the Keystone XL pipeline. Enbridge's Alberta Clipper pipeline expansion is the next piece of this puzzle. Come stand with us to protect the Great Lakes region we love and oppose the Alberta Clipper expansion!
