As we begin to peek out from under the twin shrouds of a dark Vermont winter and a debilitating pandemic, Extinction Rebellion Vermont is presenting the Rated XR media series, which will highlight how Vermonters are resisting a return to "business as usual" and attempting to preserve a livable future.

In this series, planned for release in the weeks around Earth Day 2021, we'll meet Vermonters who have used the spirit of rebellion, in ways big and small, to challenge the mindset that threatens our very survival. We'll hear from a climate scientist who has been studying Vermont's changing climate and what those changes mean to the Green Mountain State. Through it all, we'll discuss ways that XR Vermont and its climate partners are poised to make a dramatic and impactful return to activism in 2021.

EPISODE 1: LOCAL ENERGY SOLUTIONS

7:00-8:00 p.m. ET, live via Zoom

Please fill out the form on this page to register. A meeting link will be available following registration.

Episode 1 will lead with a video excerpt from a Naomi Klein speech, followed by panel presentations and a round of questions. In her speech, from a 2014 climate conference, Klein explains how little government has achieved in 30 years due to ideological privatization, deregulation, austerity, and free trade.

Our three panelists for this episode are Sally Burrell, Tim Guiles, and Suzy Hodgson. Sally will talk about Bristol's Community Solar project and how to shift culture at the neighborhood level for greenhouse gas reductions. Tim will explain do-it-yourself solar power and how to make heating and cooling more affordable. Suzy will describe her “Energy” shelf project, a town EV charger, and demo transport projects.

We look forward to seeing you there!
