Join MoH volunteers Marin Exler, Cameron Brown, and George Stern to learn more about the benefits of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). RCV is a voting method in which voters can rank candidates instead of picking just one, resulting in elections that avoid "lesser of two evils voting," reducing vote-splitting, and encouraging a pool of more diverse candidates. Other benefits of RCV include reducing the two-party stronghold, decreasing toxic campaigning, increasing representation of women, and increasing representation of people of color. RCV is used around the world and is gaining momentum across the United States as a common sense, more representative, and more democratic voting system.

| Why Ranked Choice Voting?
Currently we vote using a plurality, meaning whichever candidate receives the most votes wins even (in the case of more than two candidates) if that candidate does not get a majority of the votes.
Districts should be represented by candidates who have majority support from voters! RCV allows for majority winners, AND because every candidate is seeking to be not only the first choice of each voter but also the second or third choice, Ranked Choice Voting can make candidates more hesitant to engage in divisive campaigns.
