Our May gathering is focused on the second half of Heavy by Kiese Laymon (Part III and Part IV). Our first discussion in April highlighted the ways we can connect to and relate to the author's experiences and the ways our experiences as white men diverge from Laymon's. It’s a powerful book that "explores what the weight of a lifetime of secrets, lies, and deception does to a black body, a black family, and a nation teetering on the brink of moral collapse."
