A People’s Intervention
Calling in “An Enemy of the People”
In our May rebel gathering, art collides with the real life movement.
A town meeting in a classical drama becomes an actual People's Assembly.
In Ibsen's famous play, "An Enemy of the People", an environmental scientist is silenced and ostracized by his community through a "democratic" process. In our own world we see this silencing of scientists ringing the alarm about the sixth mass extinction.
Extinction Rebellion offers a different and truly democratic process for including all voices in community building: the people's assembly process. For an inspiring quick look (less than three minutes!) at the process, check out this video. For a deeper dive, view the manual.
Come to our May rebel gathering bringing your questions, needs, stump speeches and elevator pitches, ideas, attitudes, slogans, or whatever you have in your heart and mind for the coming weeks of climate justice action.
Climate scientist Lindsay Luchinsky will bring us up-to-date information on the status of climate crisis.
Actor and activist Nate Smith will share and notes on Ibsen's play in performance, past, present and future.
