On November 30th, Metro will vote on the proposed 2023 Regional Transportation Plan. The plan going before Council is out of step with Portland's needs, authorizing billions of dollars in car-capacity projects and slashing investment in transit. The worsening climate and traffic safety crises will be allowed to fester for another 5 years with this plan, with disastrous consequences.

The Eco-Socialist Working Group of the Portland DSA and Extinction Rebellion will be rallying outside of Metro Council the day of their vote to show them we expect climate-resilient and community-focused transportation from our regional government. We will give public comment inside Metro the day of to encourage our councilors vote down this proposal. We will be meeting at 9:00 AM along Grand Avenue and demonstrating until the beginning of public comment at 10:30 AM. After public comment has concluded, those interested can stay to see the rest of the meeting or continue to demonstrate outside, as they choose. The business of the meeting will likely conclude by 1:00 PM.
