Join STL DSA for our second webinar as part of our People First Budget campaign. This time, we’re taking a look at the dangers that tax cuts for the rich & privatization pose for our public goods, and we’ll outline our democratic socialist alternative. Our panelists will also discuss how public transit is overlooked as a necessary public good, while the dangers of being a car-centric city are largely ignored. We’ll cover the history and the benefits of public transportation in the St. Louis region, including the ways in which we can improve transit to be accessible to all. Additionally, we’ll also discuss how safety is intertwined with public transportation, and how this relates to public safety overall across the St. Louis area.

Our panelists include:

Lisa Cagle, DSA member and transit planner
Mary Painter, DSA member and political scientist specializing in urban transportation and technology
Mitch Eagles, DSA member and transportation-justice activist
Jake Villareal, DSA member and local pedestrian
