Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice - Grand Junction
Start: Saturday, September 08, 2018•10:00 AM
September 8 will be a day for us to show that communities all over the world are committed to the kind of bold climate action we need: a just transition away from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy for all.
Why September 8? That’s the Saturday before state and local leaders from across the US and around the world are meeting in San Francisco for the Global Climate Action Summit. Every local leader is invited to make a commitment at the summit – so it’s the perfect opportunity for us to push them to take real climate action that protects our climate, jobs, and justice. Join us as we hold our local leaders to account and demand that they walk the talk on climate action.
We are demanding that Western Slope elected officials take bold climate action and protect Colorado from being destroyed by the oil and gas industry. Yes on #97 and Yes to ready for 100% campaigns. Colorado cant afford anymore empty promises. It's time for real climate leadership.
Join us at The Old Courthouse for a Rally and an art filled "lay in for climate' with aerial photography and art components and then march with us in downtown Grand Junction to Hawthorne Park for an environmental fair where you can get involved with your favorite western slope organization and conclusion of the March! Bring your best climate justice signs!
At 1pm join Climate Reality Project Western Slope at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 536 Ouray Avenue (next to the library and blocks from Hawthorne Park) for a Vegan Potluck and at 2:00pm stay for a Presentation from Climate Reality Leaders!
Participating Organizations: 350 Grand Junction, Western Colorado Alliance, Sierra Club Grand Junction, Climate Reality Project Western Colorado Chapter, United Church of Christ.
