Rise For Climate - People Power Aerial Photo
Start: Saturday, September 08, 2018• 9:15 AM
On September 8th, thousands of rallies will be held in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us.
Ireland is the second worst performing country in the EU for taking action on climate change so this is our opportunity to hold our local leaders to account and demand that they walk the talk on climate action.
We want to show that the people of Galway care about climate change and want action now. The aim of this event is to gather as many people as we can outside Knocknacarra Community Centre (Cappagh Park) so that we can take an aerial photo that shows the number of people in Galway who want Ireland to up its game. All we need is about 15 minutes of your time and for you to bring something yellow to hold up (e.g. a flower, a piece of paper) or for you to wear something yellow.
This a non-political event but we would encourage representatives from all parties to attend to show that they too demand change.
This action is timed to happen just before the start of the Knocknacarra Park Run so why not wear your runners and go for a jog as well!
