On Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 2:00 pm, join activists across New York State for a Statewide Day of Action to demand Renewable Heat Now! Gather with press, elected officials, and esteemed speakers to amplify the need for affordable, clean, and climate-friendly buildings.
The event kicks off at Beach Green Dunes, NYC's first net-zero neighborhood prototype. Meet Walter RodrÃguez Meyer, Founding Principal of Local Office Landscape and Urban Design—a firm specializing in innovative, resilient, and environmentally just landscapes with expertise in coastal cities and sustainable urbanism. Meyer's work on Beach Green Dunes highlights the potential for decarbonized buildings and communities.
Next, experience a Sustainable Food Social at Beach Dunes Eats & Arts and The Campaign Against Hunger, headed by Dr. Melony Samuels. Her cafe and culinary arts center champions local, seasonal ingredients from urban farms and supports aspiring chefs in a community hub dedicated to reshaping the Rockaways' food landscape.
From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, unite with like-minded advocates and contribute to a collective call for Governor Hochul to prioritize affordable, clean, and climate-friendly buildings in her January 2025 State of the State address and state budget. Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard and secure a more sustainable future for New York State!
