RSVP to the Board of Zoning Appeals Hearing to stop the Core City concrete crusher
Start: Monday, July 17, 2023• 9:30 AM
For the last several months, the people of Core City have risen up and said NO to Murray Wikol's proposed concrete crushing facility at 4445 Lawton St. The City of Detroit reviewed the evidence and denied Wikol's project a crucial permit. But on January 3rd, Wikol filed an appeal to try to move the project forward -- even though it'll bring 10-60 dump trucks a day and spew dust into the air and our homes.
On July 17th at 9:45am, the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) will hear Wikol's case — and we need you to be there to say: No Concrete Crusher in Core City!
RSVP now for the July 17th Board of Zoning Appeals hearing. It'll be held both online over Zoom and in person (at 2 Woodward Ave, 13th floor). Zoom link here.
Once you RSVP, you'll receive the Zoom call-in info and more info about how to join in person. The BZA wants to see lots of people at the actual hearing so there will be a free bus leaving for Core City for those who want to come in person.
We've said no to this "very high-impact" concrete crushing facility going in RIGHT beside our Black and low-income community before. It'll bring 10-60 dump trucks a day and spew dust into the air. Now, we need to pull together again to let everyone know that Core City is not a sacrifice zone for industrial polluters.
