Safeguarding Training for Leadership Groups - Part 1

Thursday 29th April, 16:00 - 17:15.

Join us for Learning Thursdays, a free weekly online learning opportunity for Citizens UK leaders and member institutions.

Safeguarding is fundamental to our work - if you are the safeguarding rep for your Citizens chapter or would like to learn more about our safeguarding policies please do join us for this event. There will be ample space for discussion, as we hope to hear your thoughts on what works in your Chapter or member institutions and what additional support you might need going forward.

This session will be the first in a two-part series, the second taking place on 8th July, 16:00-17:30. It has been designed for Safeguarding Leads from Leadership Teams and others involved in Chapter Safeguarding work, and we would ask that each Chapter is represented across at least one of these two sessions.

The training will focus heavily on approaching safeguarding from a Community Organising perspective and will explore how safeguarding work can be approached as aligned with Citizens UK values and principles. It will provide a refresher on the role of a Safeguarding Lead and where and how to report any concerns that arise.

Led by our Citizens UK Safeguarding Officer Jawed Neshat, and Louise Willis-Keeler - CEO and Founder of specialist safeguarding consultancy Psych-Logical, the training will unpack likely scenarios that arise for Leadership groups in your organising work.  

We would encourage attendees to think in advance about scenarios or questions that may come up in your Chapter – these will be discussed during the training and can help provide the basis for more in-depth learning at our second session in July. Please also think about other safeguarding-related support or training your teams would find useful.
