Salt Spring Island Day of Action
Start: Saturday, September 15, 2018•10:00 AM
Our Salish Sea orcas are struggling to survive. Fossil fuel projects, overfishing of chinook salmon and accelerating human activity and development are contributing to pollution, climate change and ocean acidification. On September 15th, please join us for a powerful Salish Sea Day of Action event.
A group of local activists have created a pod of orca whales (OrcaSoundings.org) and will be parading them through the Fall Fair and Saturday Market during the daytime on Sept 15. In the evening, we have wonderful singer Buckman Coe coming to serenade us as we enjoy a community feast and dance.
Salt Spring Island's community is joining other communities around the bioregion to build broader awareness and advocacy around protection for our Sacred Sea and all living creatures. While the sea itself may separate us physically, we are uniting to face these growing threats together. #WeAretheWater
