Save Local Post Offices! Stop Mail Carrier Removals!

This is a virtual event

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is rolling out a huge disruption of mail delivery in your community.

Local post offices near you are part of the 200 nationwide to be impacted within the next six months. Within the next few years 4,000+ post offices and tens of thousands of mail routes will be pulled apart.

Mail carriers will be removed from their local post offices and displaced to massive Sorting and Delivery Centers (S&DCs) far from their mail routes. While DeJoy calls this efficient, the commute times to the S&DCs and travel times to and from mail routes will add one to two hours to a mail carrier’s day. Already plagued by understaffing, this additional burden will accelerate the exodus of postal employees.

Currently, no national institutions are fighting this massive transformation of our local postal service. Not the Postal Regulatory Commission, not the Office of the Inspector General, not the postal unions, not Congressional committees. That means it’s up to local communities to spark debate, to turn up the heat and build pressure on Congress to hold hearings and put DeJoy on the hot seat.

You can make a difference! Already the towns of Andover, MA and Kalamazoo, MI have held town meetings and press conferences, involving local post unions and elected officials.

Local DSA members and chapters across the country are reaching out to local postal unions and postal customers to hold public events to “raise” the alarm about this disastrous plan.
