UPDATE: Manchin and Schumer's Dirty Deal is dead—again! Activists and progressive lawmakers pushed back against this backdoor deal, and Democratic leadership did not have enough votes to attach it to the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act.

In lieu of the original rally, we will instead host a celebration event in front of Schumer's apartment building on Thursday, Dec. 8th at noon! Come celebrate with fellow climate activists and send a strong message to our Senate Majority Leader: we've beaten this Dirty Deal twice now—and we'll be back to win again if you try to attach it to more must-pass legislation such as the end-of-year spending bill.

In September, we came together and stopped Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer’s “Dirty Deal” to fast track building new fossil fuel projects across the country. The deal was designed by and for the fossil fuel industry, and it would have given the green light to build all the polluting projects they want, wherever they want.

Now, Schumer is plotting with Manchin to bring back the “Dirty Deal 2.0”. Join us at Chuck's house on Thursday, December 8th at noon to demand that he oppose this deal being added to the National Defense Authorization Act—or any other must-pass legislation before the end of the year.

As Senate Majority Leader, Schumer could be playing a huge role in championing climate justice. Instead, he has put his political weight behind backroom deals with Manchin and the fossil fuel industry—deals that screw over the rest of us who want to have a livable future on this planet.
