Since January, the Tax Amazon coalition has been fighting for Seattle to pass a tax on the 800 richest corporations to provide immediate financial aid to the 100,000 Seattleites most in need, and to fund the construction of union-built green housing and home retrofitting.

On Thursday though, three Democrat Seattle City Councilmembers shelved the bill the Tax Amazon coalition has been fighting for. The Council’s decision is a wake-up call that we need to ramp up pressure on them by preparing to take this matter directly to the voters -- and we need all SDSA members' help to go all out to collect the required signatures by July 1st.

We've sent out the ballot petition to all of our Seattle DSA members. On Saturday, after discussing this week's events, we will text and phone bank our members to make sure they received the ballot petition and ask them to sign on and share with their family and friends.
