Senator Schumer & Congressman Jeffries: Hold the Line on Climate & Housing!

Start: Wednesday, October 20, 202112:00 PM

Joe Manchin, a climate denying coal baron, is holding our homes and planet hostage, by demanding terminal cuts to the Build Back Better Act’s housing and climate programs.

Democrats’ response? “Fire away!”

This means abandoning 5.8 million tenants across the country at the brink of eviction without federal or state protections. Abandoning New York's public housing to dire disrepair, and 92,000 New Yorkers to homelessness.

It means abandoning future generations to at least 5 million deaths from accelerating climate chaos a year, which Ida gave New Yorkers a small preview of last month.

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers face eviction and displacement and death as the climate crisis causes severe weather events, blackouts, floods, and more.

So Congress MUST Hold the Line on Housing and Climate in #BuildBackBetter: Rental assistance to hold the eviction tidal wave at bay and green retrofits to protect public housing residents today and tomorrow. And climate laws with enough teeth to end our nations 40 years of climate failure.

Join Housing Justice for All, NYC-DSA and our allies for a rally and a march to demand the Senate and the House protect housing and climate from cuts in Build Back Better. Tell them loud and clear that when it comes to our future, there is no negotiating.
