Join us for our September Unlearning Circle:

Being in relationship and building a sense of trust and mutual understanding is fundamental to successful anti-racist organizing. As we come into a group, show up fully and speak authentically and then are seen and heard by others, we begin to feel a sense of belonging. From that place we can contribute our gifts, have them be acknowledged and create a culture of accountability where we can be real and imperfect together. We can more equitably show up with our partners around key issues that are affecting them. In this final ULC in our series of diving deep into organizing, we open space to hear your stories of organizing, to learn what ingredients in your experience build trust or that create mistrust and division and notice what we might want to shift in our organizing work.

In this ULC, we’ll grapple together with the characteristics of white supremacy culture to better understand our socialization as white-identifying people and the impact on our organizing to undo racism. https://www.whitesupremacyculture.info/characteristics.html

How do we address these characteristics when they show up in the contexts in which we organize? How does some of what we learn from other participants about building relationships create antidotes to our “go to” strategies? This will support us to intentionally practice showing up in different ways? As we engage in this discussion we need to be mindful of how we have or might weaponize our awareness of the characteristics in ways that undermines our ability to build relationships and undo racism. Join with us as we co-create mutual understanding together.
