End: Friday, September 20, 2019• 1:15 PM
WHAT: Serra High School students are participating in the Global Climate Strike, planned just three days before the UN's Climate Change Summit in New York City. We will have student speakers, chants, and a voter registration table.
WHO: Any students who would like to participate, and members of the community are encouraged to join us!
MEDIA: KUSI and 10News are confirmed to cover this walkout. Additionally, the SDUSD communications team and Serra yearbook crew will be there.
WHY: To criticize federal government inaction and to inspire students to take agency over their own sustainable practices and local advocacy in San Diego, and at Serra.
WHERE: The front parking lot of Serra High / in front of the office.
ATTENDANCE INFO FOR STUDENTS: Since SDUSD has passed a resolution in support of youth climate action, Serra admin supports student activists. That being said, your fifth period teacher is still allowed to mark you as an unexcused absence. No one will physically stop you from leaving, however. We suggest that you check in with your fifth period teacher first, then come to the meeting point ASAP. You should be back before the bell rings for sixth period.
NOTE: THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
