Common Cause Ohio invites you to attend a campaign kick off and press conference announcing its push to improve Ohio's disclosure laws: Shine a Light on Dark Money.

Many Ohioans have been outraged by the recent TV ad and mailer campaign against the effort to referendum the nuclear bailout bill, HB6. Who is funding the million dollar campaign? We don't know exactly: Ohio's outdated campaign disclosure laws allow corporations and lobbying efforts to pay for advertisements without disclosing their funding sources.

In the lead up to 2020, we need to improve our disclosure rules so that we can "follow the money" and hold bad actors accountable when they spread falsehoods to frighten or mislead voters. Without disclosure, deep-pocketed groups can and will distort the truth ruthlessly, leaving Ohio voters without recourse.
