Neighborhood Meetings are a structured place for both new and long-time comrades to engage in socialist political education and tangibly contribute to our chapter’s priority campaigns in their own geographies.  

This South Bay neighborhood meeting will include snacks, political discussion, and campaign work aligned with the chapter’s Childcare for All campaign. Two short recommended readings (focused on the relationship between capitalism and the family) are included below.

• 3-page excerpt from The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State (Engels, 1884), a short excerpt from the classic, influential Marxist critique of the nuclear family, which Engels explains is a unique formation under capitalist social relations.

• Excerpt from Family Spirit and Social Reproduction (Tutt, 2022), provides an overview of Engels’ argument and subsequent contributions from Marxist Feminists
