Speak up to Protect California Air + Climate!

We need your help to stop oil and shipping companies from exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic to get out of stronger air and climate pollution rules.
On Thursday, June 25, we can team up to pressure California regulators and the oil and shipping industries to protect communities around California ports from harmful carbon pollution.
Years ago, in 2007, the California Air Resources Board passed a landmark rule to cut greenhouse gas emissions at California ports. Over the past 12 years, ships governed by this rule reduced their emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and diesel particulate matter (PM) by 80% when docked at California ports. Carbon dioxide was also reduced.
However, not all ship types have been subject to this rule. Notable exceptions are ships that transport oil and cars.
Despite giving oil and shipping companies several years to prepare for these new rules, they are now using the coronavirus pandemic as the latest excuse to avoid implementing measures that will protect community health and our climate.
And rather than finally requiring these companies to do their part and clean up their harmful pollution, California Air Resources Board are caving under pressure.
We at Pacific Environment think this is unacceptable. Please join us and speak out against this latest industry ploy to keep polluting our air and our climate.
Make your voice heard and join us on June 25 on a public Zoom call. Together, we can tell companies and regulators that we demand urgent action at California ports to curb climate and air pollution. RSVP today to join this online hearing.
We will send you background information to help you raise your voice and make a public comment. And we'll provide you with step-by-step guidance on how to join the call.
No experience is necessary! Every voice counts and we’re all learning together how to practice digital advocacy in a COVID-19 world.
