Spotlight on Democracy
Start: Thursday, January 06, 2022• 4:00 PM
End: Thursday, January 06, 2022• 6:00 PM
Rally with Concord Indivisible and our allies to protest the insurrection and plant our collective feet firmly on the ground where democracy in America began.
The ex-President came closer than anyone thought to toppling a free election. The mob that gathered last January 6th was determined to stop the legitimate transfer of power, and Trump’s acolytes are preparing, in plain view, to do it again. As his position grows stronger and Republican legislators at all levels pledge obeisance to their icon, myriad actors scour the Constitution for weak points in our electoral apparatus and enact laws to undermine the commitment that each vote counts.
Fair elections are in peril. We must make it clear that justice and integrity will prevail.
State Senator Mike Barrett will be the keynote speaker at the late afternoon rally. Danielle Allen — James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and Mass. gubernatorial candidate — will make opening remarks. The rally will also feature remarks by State Senator Jamie Eldridge and a message from State Representative Tami Gouveia.
