Staten Island! RSVP to Strike Back for Climate Action!

Have you heard about all of the fracked gas infrastructure National Grid is expanding on our dime that goes against our climate goals in New York State? Staten Island is a target for National Grid for compressed fracked gas and filling stations and a new pipeline in Clove Lake. SOme good news is that our activism pushed these projects to be put on hold for now, but in their latest report on long-term capacity, National Grid said the Clove Lake Pipeline is the alternative if their LNG expansion in Greenpoint is denied permits. So we want Staten Island to join us in this fight.

Your neighbors in Brooklyn, SE Queens, and Long Island are also fighting fracked gas expansion, including the North Brooklyn Pipeline that has gained a lot of attention from all of the local pushback.

One of the many ways we are fighting back is we’ve launched a Gas Bill Strike to refuse to pay for this pipeline that is not wanted, not needed, and harms communities along the pipeline.

Almost 400 people have pledged to not pay for the pipeline already and are withholding $66 of their bill, which is about what the average National Grid customer will pay over time for the pipeline. If you’re striking say why you are.
