** THIS IS A PRIVATE EVENT FOR STEPHEN GAYNOR SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY**

In response to expressed student interest, Gaynor will be offering Silver, Gold, Green, and Blue Cluster students an opportunity to participate in the 17-minute national walkout at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 14, organized in remembrance of the 17 individuals who lost their lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018. The walkout will be led and supervised by Gaynor faculty.

We understand that not all students wish to take part; participation is entirely voluntary and requires the attached permission slip. If you do not want your child to participate, no further action is required. Those who opt out will enjoy quiet reading time from 10:00-10:30 am and should bring a book to school on Wednesday, March 14.

If a permission slip is not received prior to noon on Monday, March 12, your child will be automatically opted out. Participating students are required to attend a meeting that will be held on Tuesday, March 13, the day prior to the event to discuss logistics and behavioral expectations of the walkout.

Regardless of your student’s participation choice, please do know that we support what is best for them and respect your decision.
