Are you an undergraduate student-worker interested in organizing your workplace?
Undergraduate student workers at Kenyon College in Ohio are trying to win a union. Nearly one year ago they formed the Kenyon Student Workers Organizing to address work conditions and pay, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just last week, they went on strike against their administration, citing unfair labor practices like missed pay by Kenyon. A supermajority of Kenyon’s undergraduate student workers have been organized into K-SWOC and 130 student workers participated in the strike, the first of its kind in U.S. history. How did they do it? Join the YDSA National Labor Committee, members of K-SWOC, and the Emergency Workers Organizing Committee to learn their lessons: why they decided to form a student worker union and how they organized so successfully.
