Sudbury - Letters to Register Democratic Votes in Wisconsin - Sunday 11/24/19

Start: Sunday, November 24, 2019 1:00 PM

End: Sunday, November 24, 2019 3:00 PM

The 2020 presidential election is just a year away. Sending short, handwritten letters to potential voters is an evidence based approach to increasing voter registration and voter turnout. Swing Left’s partners at Vote Forward have conducted multiple randomized trials and estimate that letter-writing campaigns increase voter registration by 4.3% and voting by 1.6%. These increases are critical in battleground states with narrow margins where registration and turnout will determine the election!

We are focused on Wisconsin, one of the states expected to swing the 2020 presidential election. In 2016, lower voter turnout among Democrats in Wisconsin played a major role in Trump’s win over Clinton by a razor-thin margin of 0.77%. We can keep that from happening again, but we need your help! Letter-writing campaigns can change the outcome of elections by encouraging Democratic voter registration, especially for under-represented groups. Letter writing is cathartic, easy, fun and most importantly effective.

Join us from 1 to 3:00 PM on Sunday 11/24 in Sudbury to pen personal messages to likely Democratic voters in Wisconsin. We will provide supplies, yummy snacks, and warm drinks. We’ll ask for a small donation ($10) to cover stamps and printing costs and, of course, your letter writing efforts.

Please RSVP, as the event size is limited and we want to be sure to have all the supplies needed.

Hope to see you November 24! Barbara and Candace
