This is a virtual event

Are you a young person interested in mobilizing your white peers against racism? Are you already doing this? Do you know of others who might want to be part of building a support network for white youth in racial justice work?

Young folks have always been at the forefront of social movements and driving social change. Young Black, Indigenous and other people of color (BIPOC) have been instrumental in the movement for racial justice, and are building support within BIPOC communities.

Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), which has been organizing white people against racism for eleven years, and Organizing White Men for Collective Liberation (OWMCL), which grew out of SURJ last year, seeks to provide that anchor and resource network to support young white folks to call their white peers into the movement for racial justice.

There has been a massive upswell in energy from white youth to confront racism and we want to help harness and support that energy! Are you down to help?

SURJ and OWMCL would like to invite young people interested in mobilizing white youth against racism for a first planning session over Zoom that will connect young activists across the country to build with one another and start planning a big national call to publicly launch this movement. This first Zoom planning session will be on Thursday October 15th at 8 - 9:30 PM ET. Please register here! There are few spaces where white youth are getting support to be in racial justice work as white folks. The focus of the Meet Up is youth growing support for white young people who are in the work for racial justice. AND, everyone who wants to be part of that is welcome.

During this first planning call, young folks will get to share their interests, why they want to organize white youth against racism, and what role they envision for themselves in this process. There will be ample space, time and opportunity for young folks to meet and chat with one another. Coming out of this call, white anti-racist youth will have built new relationships and a plan for hosting a national call to connect more broadly. This cohort of youth will have plenty of support and guidance from long time anti-racist organizers while having the freedom to take the reins and to create and lead this movement. And don't forget to register!
