Swing Left Columbia Heights Kickoff!!!

Join us for our 2019 kickoff celebration and phone bank!

This election cycle, we'll be focused on flipping the Virginia Senate blue. We're going to be phone banking for Debra Rodman, a Virginia Delegate who is running for Senate in a district currently held by a Republican.

At the kickoff party, you'll get to meet the members of Swing Left Columbia Heights, learn more about our group and what we have planned for this year, get trained, and figure out how you can get involved. And a kickoff event wouldn't be complete without an action, so this event will double as our first phone bank!

What's at stake in Virginia?

Virginia's state elections are a huge deal this year. If Democrats can win back just two seats in each chamber, the state will flip blue and give Democrats control of the state government ahead of a redistricting year. Virginia's voting districts were last drawn in 2010, when Republicans drew racially gerrymandered districts that disenfranchised African American voters. This is our chance to redraw the voting districts that will be in place for the next 10 years -- setting us up for a decade of progressive victories that will impact the entire country.
