Taking Black Motherhood Back: A Collective Reflection on Our Experiences, Pressures, and Ways Forward is an opportunity to uncover how historical narratives on motherhood harm us as Black mamas and mothering people today. During this interactive discussion-style workshop on Thursday, April 11th at 6:00 pm MT, we'll discuss the examples of motherhood we witnessed in childhood, the parents we want to be, and the structural demands that impact our mental wealth and well-being, eventually trickling down to our households and communities. As we speak of our experiences, concerns, and community needs, we'll share space, validate each other, dream up affirming motherhood, and find healing in reflection, community, and conversation.

Led by Ambreia Meadows-Fernandez, this workshop gives a chance to see how the structural impacts the personal and encourages Black mothers and mothering people to dream up liberation for themselves and their families through self love, reflection, and care.

Ambreia Meadows-Fernandez is an award—winning storyteller, facilitator, and founder of FreeBlackmotherhood, which encourages Black mothers and others to free themselves; the children will follow.
