TALLAHASSEE STATE WORKERS RISE UP!

Start: Tuesday, January 28, 202011:00 AM

Hard working state employees who keep this state functioning are fighting to survive. After 12 years with only two increases (and one pay cut), they have had enough. Governor DeSantis's proposed 2020 Florida state budget offers no raise or cost of living increase for dedicated state employees, many of whom are working two or more jobs or relying on public assistance just to survive.

As one retired state worker recently wrote:

"State employees are now — shamefully — some of the lowest paid in the entire United States, and Florida has the smallest number of state employees per capita to serve Florida's citizens...years of downsizing, cutting, and eviscerating state services, have taken people — people with faces, with lives, supporting families — and have used them as political punching bags."

On January 28, state workers and supporters across Florida are standing up at worksites in multiple cities to remind the legislature who the workers are that make this state happen every day.

Join Us on January 28 in Tallahassee to send a clear message to Governor DeSantis and lawmakers at the Capitol: it's time for state workers to be recognized and prioritized in the 2020 state budget!

State workers deserve an across the board pay raise NOW! We can not wait any longer!
