Tell DEQ to Protect our Climate! Comment Writing Workshop
Start: Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 3:00 AM GMT
End: Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 4:00 AM GMT
This is a virtual event

Have you heard of Oregon's Climate Protection Program (CPP)?
Currently, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is engaged in the rule-making process for this new program, which will regulate climate pollution in Oregon starting in 2022.
While it has the potential to be a meaningful tool to replace fossil fuels with clean energy, the draft CPP has some problems, which would keep it from living up to its name. Thankfully, the rules for the CPP aren’t finalized yet!
You can help!
While we can't compete with
the fossil fuel industry in money and lobbyists, we can muscle them out
with people power. Now is the crucial time for us to improve the Climate Protection Program at DEQ before it is adopted, by submitting written testimony to DEQ before October 4th, and/or by testifying at the two upcoming virtual public hearings on September 22nd and 30th.
So put the kids to bed, grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and join Nora Lehmann and Leonard Barrett of Families for Climate, for an informal comment writing workshop, from 8-9 PM on Wednesday, September 29th (via Zoom).
You DO NOT have to be a climate expert or even know anything about the Climate Protection Plan -- we will guide you through the most important points, and how to draft your comment to have maximum impact!
These individually crafted comments, no matter how long or short, will have more impact than mass comments. They're crucially important. Simply expressing your demand for Oregon to take bold climate action in a short, personal note or testimony is meaningful and helpful.
The Zoom link will be emailed after you register for the workshop.
