Property owners on Van Buren Street have proposed an amendment to the 2040 Comp Plan that would downzone their block & N4MN is showing up in opposition to this amendment.

This application is an important test of the city's commitment to the Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan, and the Planning Commission and City Council's ability to distinguish between applying policies broadly to benefit the city as a whole, and the narrow interests of individual property owners.

PLAN15291 has been sent to the BIHZ committee without recommendation to be reviewed on Tuesday, Jan 3rd. It will be up to this committee to decide whether the application can proceed to the full Council. We’re calling on the BIHZ Committee members to reject staff findings and deny this comprehensive plan amendment & we need people to show up and speak in opposition to this amendment.

Join Neighbors for More Neighbors at City Hall at 1:30 on Jan 3rd. We will testify against this amendment and urge the BIHZ committee (made up of several City Council members) to encourage appropriate density along corridors with frequent transit access.
