Come one, come all to the "The Antioch Whistlestop Tour and Celebration" for a day of adventure, music, and community. This special Bay Area Transit Month event starts with an Amtrak train ride from Oakland to Antioch via the San Joaquins along the Delta, followed by a tour of historic downtown Antioch (including backstage at El Campanil Theatre!) by our friends at the Celebrate Antioch Foundation! We'll enjoy music, food & drink, history, and community and a happy hour on the banks of the San Joaquin river. There will also be special guests and surprises that you won't want to miss.
This event is extra special because in just a few months, train service to Pittsburg/Antioch, is ending. It's shocking, but true. Although Antioch is the heart of Eastern Contra Costa County and home to over 100,000 people as well as numerous attractions like the Antioch Water Park, Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge and El Campanil Theatre-- the San Joaquin Joint Power Board voted to close the Pittsburg/Antioch station.
RSVP for your spot today! Here's how the day works:
If you are coming from the West to Antioch, we will be catching the San Joaquins 716 train*. It leaves Oakland Jack London Square at 1:36pm and arrives at Pittsburg-Antioch station at 2:50pm. Whether you want to join us at Oakland or at Emeryville (1:46pm), Richmond (1:55pm), Martinez (2:25pm), you are invited! You can even take the thruway bus from San Francisco at 12:50pm and hop on the train at Emeryville. The train ride is beautiful and a great way to see the Bay (without the headache of the freeways).
If you are coming from the East, take the San Joaquins 713 train to Antioch.
