Earlier this year, the Progressive International introduced its art platform, the Art of Internationalism.

In the system of globalized capitalism, the most visible artworks have turned into stocks or assets and the most commercially successful artists have become companies.

We, as peoples, can access some of these artworks in nominally public museums and galleries, but the majority of us are largely disenfranchised from the art hoarded in the freeports and private palaces of the ultra-rich.

In support of shared struggles for equality, social and ecological justice, Art of Internationalism builds from a place-based understanding of the world: one grounded in local histories, rooted in communities and intimately connected across geographies.

The art and culture of the world we want is internationalist, popular, and communal.

On Wednesday 9th June at 1800 CEST, join Jonas Staal, coordinator of  the Art of Internationalism, as he hosts a special episode of The Internationalist to discuss, share and analyse examples of internationalist art.

Jonas will be joined by Charles Esche (curator of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven), Paul Goodwin (Director at Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation), Lisa Ito (Teacher of Art History at the University of the Philippines) and Golrokh Nafisi (performance artist and puppet maker).
